Some of the biggest special occasions, when the city is particularly busy are Liberation Day on May 9th, Christmas, and Easter, when the men give the woman of their dreams a friendly slap with a bit of willow, and get a painted egg in return.

Also taking place during May is the Khamoro gypsy festival, which celebrates the culture and lifestyle of the Romany people, who descend on the city from all over Eastern Europe.
